Hello! My name is Janet Mendenhall and I am the community coordinator for the Valley View neighborhood in North Abilene. My family and I live in the Friendship House sponsored by First Baptist Church and First Financial Bank, located at 2234 N. 8th Street. I love my neighborhood because it is wonderfully diverse and filled with friendly folks with a myriad of talents and interests.

...was home to several of Abilene's pioneer families, & has been the site of numerous beautiful residences, including the Swenson House.

...is the location of the historic Abilene trolley barn—the old streetcar tracks can still be seen peeking through the pavement in the alley behind the barn.

...is home to the new Myra Martinez Elementary School which opened in August 2012—it is the first new elementary campus built in Abilene in 20 years.
