Laura Herridge is married to Bart, mom to Will and Annie, and daughter to Carol. Bart is the Director of Student Retention and Services at Abilene Christian University. Laura and Bart both have degrees from ACU, and the Herridge family attends Highland Church of Christ. Bart and Laura have lived in Abilene for a total of about 21 years.
Before coming to CCC, Laura worked in church offices as a ministry assistant, as the office manager for a lobbying firm, a university academic advisor, and as a grant writer and fundraiser. After 20 years away from college, Laura went back and completed the MS in Social Work at ACU in 2011.
The Herridge’s journey to the North Park Neighborhood started in a 2007 Bible class at Highland when former executive director Brad Carter shared the vision for the North Park housing development and park space. They planned to become neighbors by building a house there, but when the opportunity came in 2010 to serve in the Friendship House, the whole family jumped at the chance. For Laura, living and working in North Park is a huge personal blessing and a unique way to practice social work. For Bart, Will, Annie, and Carol, it is a rich experience making new friends and being neighbors who love and find great joy in those around them.
