Lori Thornton has been part of the CCC family since 2007. Discovering an organization whose mission is showing God’s love by building relationships with our neighbors spoke to her desire to become part of something transformational. She finds herself being transformed every day by the people of Abilene who share their lives with one another openly and imperfectly.
Lori moved from Mansfield, TX to Abilene, TX in 1995 to attend Abilene Christian University. There she met and fell in love with a fellow drummer, Michael Thornton, and they married the following year. Lori majored in All-Level Art Education and taught K-12th grade art at Abilene Christian Schools for 3 years. She served as assistant director for the National Center for Children’s Illustrated Literature for 6 years. Lori continues to pursue her artwork through book illustration, pottery, and creating the occasional masterpiece.
