Brandon Young, CCC Board Member

Assistant Professor of Art & Design, Abilene Christian University

Brandon Young is an assistant professor at Abilene Christian University's Department of Art & Design where he teaches courses in architecture, interior design and graphic design. He is also the founder of Y Design Workshop, an architecture and design studio dedicated to providing creative solutions that respond to the unique qualities of place. While Brandon has a passion for the built environment, people are really at the heart of why he loves his work.

Brandon’s involvement with CCC began with an assignment he gave to a design class. The class was required to design a master plan for a mixed-income neighborhood that CCC was developing at the time. Brandon was immediately impressed, and so were his students, with the work CCC was doing and the difference the organization was making. This was something he and his class could all get behind and support, and it was great for the students to see how their skills could serve an Abilene community. Brandon is honored to be a member of the Board of Directors for Connecting Caring Communities.

Brandon has been married to his wife Jana for 15 years and they have three children: Rowan, Skylar and Larkin. According to Brandon, spending time with this little community is the best part of his life. The Young family also happens to live in a neighborhood where they know their neighbors! In all of his spare time, Brandon is a cyclist, beekeeper, backyard chicken farmer, guitarist, mandolinist and general tinkerer.
